My tree is not blooming yet... but it is very close. The flowers on the top are blooming... Its too cold and rainy. But when-ever the good weather arrives (like today!) the flowers will open, and I want to have another tea party like last year! Wanna come over for tea?

Our Little Log Cabin for a Night

It may look small - but this little log cabin had 4 bedrooms and a giant laundry room, an ingenious setup for the bathrooms with one full bath with a half bath right next to it. Brilliant. And so quaint! It was really nice.

This is the view from the back, we used the fire place inside rather than the big fire pit outside, but either way it was a fun house for building fires.

I loved the wooden features of this house, like the neato door fixtures. Every wall seemed to contain drawers and doors to little closets.

This ladder/stairs led up to the second floor where all the small kiddo bedrooms were.

The little door at the end of this room led to a small balcony

rope fire-escapes (and you can see Ayla climbing into the little mini built in bed)

this mini bed was just adorable - Ayla even slept in it for a few hours!

there were four bedrooms in all, somehow no pictures of the master bedroom on the first floor

playroom for the kiddos

we had a lot of fun in the little cabin - Naomi baked Yed a cake

there was some coloring

and game playing

and lots of spanish coffees!

Beer Making Night 3 - We Bottled!

Maggie's homegrown hops are all dried, bagged and in the freezer for her next beer concoction!

Everyone helped stick the labels to the bottles
We stamped the labels with skull themed stamps from Maggie's collection... there were 3 types of beer bottled
Nisey stamped the awesome labels for the party beer - tba - party at the Campos'! Beer will be ready after only 10 days!
Naomi stamped the bad ass labels for the IPA
this is all the pictures I took... I guess I didn't leave the table much to go outside and take a picture of our men drinking and bottling.

my favorite line of the night (from Micah):

"I'm gonna get this party started. But first I gotta go outside and make some beer."

We haven't posted in a month and a half? What gives? We are bad Idle Hands Folk!

Hmmm, well, it has been a busy summer for all of us, what with Mysticz and her little one moving in with me (Featherz), assorted craft, gift, and art fairs for Bunz and Gemz, and now Lashez and her big family move this month! No wonder we haven't been blogging! But we need to, so ladies, its a challenge!

I will try to get pictures tomorrow evening of glittering some nutz. Oh, speaking of nutz, the Bike Nutz are coming along! I made enough money selling the nutz in my booth at the market to afford to get the packaging die cut made, should have that any day now. And I altered some of the packaging to have our blog and etsy store on it!

I've thought of a couple local podcasts with alot of listeners that are bike friendly to send some Nutz to, so they can spread the word. I think they will, at least one of them is a good friend of mine, and they all like bikes!

Our very first paying customer! This guy was awesome, he came by and checked them out, couldn't get them out of his head, and came back for them! He got the sparkley lavender pair. I was SOOOOOOOOOOO excited when he said he would let me take his picture!

Just trying out my new computer configuration, and thought I'd make it a post! Yesterday Brandon got most of the rest of his shiz out of what is now MY house, and so last night Christina and I moved my computer to its new place by the window! I just hooked all the computery bits back together, and amazingly, its working! I now can sit by my window and watch my chickens scratching in the yard, or, like now, keep an eye on Opal and make sure she's not getting into things she shouldn't. Shes sitting on the porch watching the road. hee hee!

Thanks again to Yed for making our Idle Handz trip work! I believe he is the trip master for our group, he needs an offical title.

Hope Splurge is excited about its new bike nutz, I want to see pictures of them up in the store pronto! Oh, just had an idea: a sample bike seat display with a pair of happy golden boyz nutz on it! I can see it now....

so leah expressed interest in going to darcelle's to celebrate her birthday... what day works for everyone? i looked up dates/showtimes and their weekday show is on wednesdays & thursdays at 8:30, they recommend reservations, and it's $15 a person for entertainment...

hee, hee, there is an annual all-ages show on sunday, june 6th at 6pm (it's only $5, i think it's for charity) we could bring the kiddos :)

Sunday at the Market

I stopped by the YedOmi booth and played with Micah today - he had legos in his "market"! And his Momma helped him set up a market tram and an elevator for his huge lego tower (aka string - but we all know cool when we see it!).

Ayla is two today and it was just so adorable getting to see her celebrate a birthday. She looked scrumptious in her little turquoise and brown party dress and greeted us with a bubbly "HI!" jumping up and down all the while. How cute is that!
I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked... somehow I didn't get a shot of her new beloved bicycle and tricycle... but I did take pictures while she blew out her candles (although she didn't really blow, she just leaned in and Maggie helped with a little puff of air to get things rolling)

Making Stuff with Chocolate

Okay ladies - I was reading a friend of mine's blog the other day and I saw this post "Making Stuff with Chocolate" and I was inspired! Wouldn't this be a fun IHLA get together!!

check it out: we could purchase some of her kits and get crafty with chocolate modeling clay at home (kits are quite inexpensive, and the chocolate is supposedly tastey!)

OR we could go to the chocolate studio and have a get-together there... I emailed Peggy (the lady who runs the Chocolate Studio) and found out that not only is she kid friendly (yeah!) - the cost of a chocolate party for us gals would only be $15/per person. wha?! Doesn't that sound like a deal! I think so :) She said the price varies on how complex the chocolate projects are, but on average she said it would be about $15/per, with an 8 person capacity.

Okay - so none of this is any sort of pressing matter... I just wanted to share this info before I forgot the awesomeness of crafting with chocolate. Visions of edible chocolate flowers are floating thru my brain.

Life is busy and I need to do my taxes and whatnot (promised myself I would not take any fun adventures until taxes are sent in asap) - but I just thought I'd throw this info out there!

Erin and Orson were the first to arrive - on foot! It was so wonderful to hear you coming up the path :) That walk down 82nd street sounds like it was a fun adventure!

this is the little free tchotchke that the lady at the thrift store gave me for free (tucked secretly in the wrapping paper with the tea cups - somehow giving me a sugar bowl and creamer wasn't enough!!)

Riley loved the flower in the tea cup - she was "drinking the flower" and carried it around with her all over the place. She was too cute in her little tea party outfit!

I love the little hand on Naomi's shoulder - how precious is that.

This mug shot of the kiddos is hilarious. I especially love that the up and stood by the wall together like this all on their own, no prompting... although when I tried to back up and get the funny old hose in the picture as well, they scattered and wouldn't pose nicely for me anymore :) of course.

Was Micah flying? Or was he simply curious what was going on in the neighbors yard? Who knows :)

Ayla is so photogenic - those eyes are ridiculous. And the evidence of chocolate cookies on her face is just scrumptious.

Thanks for coming to my tea party. It was fantastic to celebrate the Magnolia tree and the good weather with such wonderful company. And then it was such a treat o find so many fun pictures on my camera (and such torture! I made myself wait until after I was done making things and getting ready for the market before I took a look at them and selected some winners to show you gals) Anyhow - I am once again pleased as punch at how fun this new camera lens is. What a great opportunity to take cute pictures of your cute kids! Plastic Fantastic :)

I am particularly looking forward to time spent at the Tulip farm sometime soon... they have a field update on their website.

How to Make Ricotta

Put the milk and buttermilk in a large pot over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally, scraping the bottom of the pan.
Set a colander lined with at least four layers of cheesecloth over a medium-size bowl.
When the milk starts to get slightly hot to the touch, keep an eye on it. Soon the white, fluffy curds in the milk will separate from the pale, translucent whey.
About a minute after the first curds form, take the pot off the heat. Scoop the curds with a slotted spoon and place in the colander.
Gather the cloth around the curds and let the ricotta drain for about a minute (or more if you want the cheese drier). Gradually mix in salt to taste.

Fun on the beach!!! Okay, so the video I uploaded in the last post (a montage of pictures) seems to not function... so this time I thought I'd just post a pile of pictures.
This is the house we rented! A view from the beach (our backyard!) and from the front (below)

and this was our beachCan you believe we had this beautiful beach to ourselves?!?! Okay, so on Friday other people and their dogs started showing up... but until then we had a huge empty beach for the dogs and kids to run.

The weather was insanely spectacular. In January? Wha?!
It was fun to play fetch with the dogs. Opal was actually the only one who really knows the drill and willingly brings the ball back. Go figure. But then she would get distracted by sparkly sea foam, and the gig was up.
Ayla was looking pretty in pink - her and Leafus are both beach bums. They couldn't get enough!
The sun set on night 2 provided the most amazing lighting for pictures. I love this shot of beautiful Ayla
Leafy was so happy on the beach (all the dogs were!) and his eye gunk even cleared up quite a bit while on the vacation. It was fun to see him in his element on the ocean. Who knew. I think this picture below, a blur Leafy running, might be my favorite from the whole trip!

And below is a shot of Naomi and Micah - the wind was blowing really hard and little Micah was getting it in his face, so Naomi picked him up and ran around with him. I do believe he was afraid they were going to get wet!The kiddos having a romantic meal together on afternoon - it was very cute, they shut the sliding door on themselves and ate together happily, and then afterwards they ran and played in the sun porch for a few minutes before they opened up the door so Opal cold get in. Opal was really bad about eating the kids food, she seemed to think it was hers. Puppies and babies. *sigh* All things considered, they all got along really well - the kiddos like to chant "O-pul" and the puppy liked to follow them around. Burnside was occasionally overwhelmed by the mayhem and had to take a couple of quiet time naps by herself. But she was happy to have so many laps to lay her head and get petted. We played a lot of golf on the beach - I loved that! Wack the ball as far as you can and then take off running to try and find it. That was great! Decent exercise too I might add! Here's Tim hitting the ball, then Yeder and then me. Brandon played as well on Friday, but I didn't get a picture of him running around in his shorts and no shoes. damn.

Friday night was an incredible sunset. So beautiful. I took about 120 pictures of it. Later that night we had a bonfire, short but sweet - as it started raining so we put it out and went inside. But that was good cuz we didn't want to kids to try and touch the fire and it was sorta cold anyways, however nice to light ourselves a bonfire none-the-less! And there were 2 fire-places indoors, so we went inside and lounged with an indoor fire.
Thanks for such a fun trip everyone! There are more pictures than just these few - a lot more! So I burned CDs for you all.

Look at these smiles! Kiddos in the giant Cosco shopping cart - that was my favorite part of the whole shopping trip! They really enjoyed themselves! Although I think they sorta tortured Naomi (Gemz you are so wonderful and tolerant!)

Breakfast at Bobs was fantastic. Macaw joined us :) Everyone got stuffed on good food and then we bought a bunch of flour and oats and bread. I love Bobs. And the company could not have been more outstanding... although we missed you Lashez and Orson! Your smiling faces would have been the icing on the cake!

Oooh I was thinking of making some cake for the trip :) Any preferences? Is there a mix out there for the red velvet?

Thanks for such a fun day! We all agreed the next crafty get-together will have to be at Lashez house so she can join us!

Beach food!

Hey Ladiez,

Mysticz and I were discussing beach food. We're of the thought that we each should bring our favorite snackies/cereal/lunch fixins, and plan our dinners and perhaps breakfasts together? I know Yed said there was a grill, so thats an idea.

other ideas to kick around (and feel free to add your own)
bagel/french bread pizzas
stuffed pasta thingy, I can't remember what they are called right now! (bunz has a pasta maker I've heard)
fritatta (for breaky)

please add more! I'm also thinking we could pool our money when we get down there to go to the store to buy the ingredients that we don't have on hand. like the cold stuff, and whatnot.

shall we start an email food chain?

Felted Acorn Ornaments!

Hey Ladiez!

Here's my take on the felty acorn ornaments we blogged about in december! Thanks again a billion times Mysticz for gathering them, washing them, and bringing them down to the market for us to play with! I made a few more of them that don't have hangers, I now have to find a cute little dish (or birds nest) to display them in.

Was thinking about the beach trip: the walnut project I think would be GREAT. Also, bringing the embroidery we started. What else? Oh, vanilla vodka and kaluha, lots o that!
So excited, can't wait to go!

So, after taking a poll on Sunday, we have decided to move our monthly crafty day THIS month to Monday the 7th, rather than its usual tuesday!
